Graduation Ball

The 6.2 Leavers of 2013 were treated to a splendid evening to celebrate their final term at the college. As is the tradition at Concord, this was the last formal occasion for the senior students, before they leave the college and embark upon the next stage of their education. It was a time to celebrate the success of this very talented group of young people and to reflect upon their achievements.

Cheque for Hope House

A student led group at Concord, the Outreach Society, has presented a cheque for £1,100 to Hope House Children’s Hospices. The students raised the money during the Spring term at two different events at the college.

Win for Waldheim!

In an exciting competition this year, Waldheim have won the Concord Inter House trophy competition for a second year in a row. With nineteen events being contested over three terms, Waldheim took the title convincingly with Hammers in second position.

Swimming Gala

The Summer term’s sporting calendar of House competitions continued with the Swimming Gala on Sunday 5th May. A large crowd gathered to cheer on the swimmers and to enjoy the barbecue and refreshments provided by the kitchen on the terrace outside the pool on a beautiful Spring day!

Drama Production

Following the success of the Concord Drama Group’s production last year of ‘It Snows’, the Drama Group performed a similar one act ensemble play ‘Fugee’ by Abi Morgan in the Concord theatre on May 2nd & 3rd.

Music Award

Concord student Jonathan Wu has been awarded this year’s Church Stretton & South Shropshire Arts Festival Award for his music studies. Roger Stokes, Chairman of the Arts Festival presented the annual award to Jonathan, in recognition of his achievement as the Outstanding Musician of The Year at Concord College.

Reserve for GB Team

Young physicist Andrei Gorbatch is confirmed as one of the top seven British Physics Olympians in the country. The Concord student in 6.1 is reserve for the British Physics Olympiad team that will compete against countries from all over the world in Denmark in July.

Extension to Art School

Concord students have given an ‘overwhelmingly’ positive response to a new £350,000 development at the Concord Art School. They say the extension to the Art School is enabling them to produce work that has become even more creative, inventive and larger in scale.

Trophy for Olivia

Accomplished young horsewoman Olivia Poole has returned from a show jumping competition in Belgium with a large silver trophy. In the Children on Horse competition at Zilvern Spoor Moorsele, Olivia, a day student at Concord in Form 3, won on one of her favourite horses, Residenz.

Skiing for GB!

A Concord student has achieved her ambition – to be selected for Team GB at skiing. Marion Legeais, a day student in Form 4, has been selected to represent GB in the under 16 Alpine Squad next season.
